The
Chaplet of St. Michael the Archangel
BACKGROUND
One day Michael the Archangel appeared to the devoted Servant of God
Antonia d’Astonaco. The Archangel told her that he would like to be
honored, and God Glorified, by means of the praying of nine
invocations. These nine invocations also correspond to invocations to
the nine Choirs of Angels. The Chaplet then consists of one Our Father
and three Hail Mary after
each invocation honoring each Angelical Choir.
St Michael the Archangel
Promised: He promised to
those who practice this devotion Glorifying God and honoring the Nine
Choirs of Angels, as well as himself, Gabriel and Raphael Archangels,
to secure great Blessings from God. He promises to send one Angel from
each Choir to accompany the devout practitioners of this Devotion at
the time of Holy Communion. In addition, to those who offer these
prayers every day, he promises his continued assistance. That is,
during Time and Eternity as well as assistance in securing prompt
release from Purgatory for the devotee as well as the members of the
devotee's family.
The
Chaplet of St. Michael the Archangel
Method to Pray this Chaplet
The Chaplet is begun by
praying the following invocation:
O
God, come to my assistance; O Lord,
make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, to the Son and to the
Holy Spirit now and ever and unto ages of ages - Amen!
After each of the following
Invocations one prays: One Our Father and three Hail Mary:
1.
By the intercession of St. Michael
the Archangel and the celestial Choir of Seraphim, may the Lord make us
worthy to burn with the fire of perfect charity. Amen! (Our
Father, 3 Hail Mary)
2. By the intercession of St. Michael the
Archangel and the celestial Choir of Cherubim, may the Lord vouchsafe
to grant us the grace to leave the ways of wickedness and to run in the
paths of Christian perfection. Amen! (Our Father,
3 Hail Mary)
3. By the intercession of St. Michael the
Archangel and the celestial Choir of Thrones, may the Lord infuse into
our hearts a true and sincere spirit of humility. Amen! (Our
Father, 3 Hail Mary)
4. By the intercession of St. Michael the
Archangel and the celestial Choir of Dominions, may the Lord give us
grace to govern our senses and subdue our unruly passions. Amen!
(Our Father, 3 Hail Mary)
5. By the intercession of St. Michael the
Archangel and the celestial Choir of Powers, may the Lord vouchsafe to
protect our souls against the snares and temptations of the
devil. Amen! (Our Father, 3 Hail Mary)
6. By the intercession of St. Michael the
Archangel and the celestial Choir of Virtues, may the Lord preserve us
from evil and suffer us not to fall into temptation. Amen!
(Our Father, 3 Hail Mary)
7. By the intercession of St. Michael the
Archangel and the celestial Choir of Principalities, may God fill our
souls with a true spirit of obedience. Amen! (Our
Father, 3 Hail Mary)
8. By the intercession of St. Michael the
Archangel and the celestial Choir of Archangels, may the Lord give us
perseverance in faith and in all good works, in order that we gain the
glory of Paradise. Amen! (Our Father, 3 Hail Mary)
9. By the intercession of St. Michael the
Archangel and the celestial Choir of Angels, may the Lord grant us to
be protected by them in this mortal life and conducted hereafter to
eternal glory. Amen! (Our Father, 3 Hail
Mary)
Now we pray one Our Father
each in honor of the following:
Michael the Archangel, Gabriel the
Archangel, Raphael the Archangel and the Guardian Angel of the
individual offering the Chaplet.
The Chaplet is concluded with
the following Prayers:
To Michael the Archangel
O
Glorious Prince St. Michael the
Archangel, chief and commander of the Heavenly Hosts, guardian of
souls, vanquisher of rebel spirits, servant in the House of the Divine
King, and our admirable conductor, thou who dost shine with excellence
and superhuman virtue, vouchsafe to deliver us from all evil, who turn
to thee with confidence, and enable us by thy gracious protection to
serve God more and more faithfully every day.
Pray for us, O glorious St. Michael,
prince of the Elect of Jesus
Christ.
That we may be made worthy of His
promises.
To God the Father
Almighty
and Everlasting God, who by a
prodigy of goodness and a merciful desire for the salvation of all men,
has appointed the most glorious Archangel, St. Michael, Prince of The
Elect, make us worthy, we beseech Thee, to be delivered from all our
enemies that none of them may harass us at the hour of death, but that
we may be conducted by him into the august presence of Thy Divine
Majesty. This we beg though the merits of Jesus Christ, our
Lord. Amen!
